September 2022 Newsletter

Dear All

I hope you all managed to keep reasonably cool over this exceptionally hot summer.

We have our next meeting on Zoom on Tuesday 6th September at 7pm  when Andy Broomhead from Diabetes UK will talk to us about their new vision and plans  for volunteering which includes the local groups.  Please have a think about how you would like DUK to support us.;

Our big news is we have decided to go ahead with our annual quiz this year. It will be on Friday 7th October in St Mark's Church Hall in Surbiton. The Committee are meeting this week to finalise details so these will follow shortly but please keep the date and start asking your friends if they would like to make a team with you.

I also want to remind you all that we have restarted our weekly exercise classes. Please see the details below

Weekly Exercise Class

When: 1pm on Tuesdays

Where: The Malden Centre, Blagdon Road, KT

Cost: £3.90, including free tea or coffee afterwards.

If the class isn't for you, why not to join us afterwards at 1.45 in the cafe in the Malden Centre for fellowship and a chat.

In conjunction with Kingston Council and Places for People, this class is open to everyone, whether living with Diabetes, pre-diabetic or simply interested in some exercise in a friendly and welcoming environment.

The class is led by Anita, who ran our previous classes in the Kingfisher and at Kingsmeadow, and who understands our needs and limitations. Each session begins with some easy aerobics to music, followed by various exercises to encourage movement and mobility.

Everyone who participates does so at their own pace and within their personal limitations.

Looking forward to seeing you at our next meeting
