December 2020 Newsletter

Dear All,

The good news is that I have now secured a speaker for our December meeting next week on Tuesday 8th December at 7pm. The speaker will be Nimalini Ajith from RBK BetterBones who will talk to us about exercise at home and demonstrate some principles. The RBK BetterBones Group run a number of exercise courses designed to help people with arthritis and osteoporosis but also run more general courses on improving bone health and balance. I think a number of you including myself have attended some of these courses with Nimalini and can confirm how useful they are. As Nimalini will be demonstrating some exercises to try at home you might want to join in with her. If so please wear suitable shoes, trainers or something similar, and loose clothing. The only equipment you will probably need is a chair to hold onto for some balance exercises.

I will send the Zoom link out at the weekend. Please remember if you are having any problems with Zoom or would like to try it out then David is always willing to help and advise. -

DiabetesUK is trying to gather information about how diabetic services have operated during the pandemic. It appears to be very much a postcode lottery with some people still having annual blood tests with a review with their GP plus foot and eye checks. Whereas others are getting a much reduced service. If you are having problems getting at least annual checks can you let me know and I will pass it on to DiabetesUK.

With a number of vaccines on the horizon we can hopefully look forward to finally meeting up again sometime in 2021 and restarting our own exercise classes but for the time being life is still constricted. I hope you are able to make plans for Christmas where you will have some contact with your loved ones whilst still staying safe.

I hope to see some of you on Tuesday but otherwise an early Merry Christmas to you all
