April 2021 Newsletter

Dear All,

I hope you have all been able to enjoy the spring sunshine we have had recently even if the wind is still very cold. I also hope you might have been able to meet up outside with relations or old friends now we are back to the rule of six.

Our Zoom meeting this month is on Tuesday 12th April at the usual time of 7pm. I will send the sign up details in a separate email. They will be the same as the previous meetings up until February as we are back with David as our host. This month the topic is Diabetic Neuropathy and the speaker is Joseph Tulip from St Pancras Clinical Research. He will talk about the condition and also about current research to help sufferers. I am sorry the speaker let us down last month but she was very apologetic as she had suffered a bad reaction to her vaccination that day.

Please also put next month's meeting in your diaries. On 18th May Clare Neeley from the Diabetic Unit at Kingston Hospital will give a talk on knowing your numbers. We are bombarded with lots of different numbers when we have our annual diabetic reviews or when we test our own blood and it can be confusing. Claire will try to explain them to us and what we should be aiming for.  I am going to speak to Claire at the start of May to discuss things to include in her talk. There will be a Q&A session at the end of the talk as usual but if there are numbers you would like Claire to explain can you let me know this month. Please also let me know if there are subjects you would like to cover in our monthly talks and I will try to find a speaker.

There are a couple of notices from Diabetes UK below. Firstly cooking and then exercise which is the right order!

Hope to see many of you next week
